W. Drew Perkins - Director / Producer

Drew Perkins is an Emmy Award-winning Producer and Director with over fifty broadcast productions. Drew's career is extensive as he has produced and directed films covering a wide range of historical topics, including public affairs, aviation, and civil rights. His films have aired on PBS, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, and various international television channels. 

Selected PBS production credits include: The Tuskegee Airmen documents the history of the famed, World War II airmen who broke the color barrier; The Stone of Hope, which documents the 10-year anniversary of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Memorial on the National Mall in Washington D. C. Racing the Times a film about the 300-year history of horse racing in Maryland; The War of 1812 on the Chesapeake: Home of the Brave, a television special documenting America's forgotten war and key battle sites in the state of Maryland; Building the Dream chronicles the 27 year crusade which led to construction of the Martin Luther King Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.; An Answer from Akron: Housing for Social Change, the story of a young group of African American men who, at the height of the Civil Rights movement, committed themselves to finding a solution to housing problems in their community; Alpha Phi Alpha: A Century of Leadership, a history of the nation's oldest African American fraternity, Alpha Kappa Alpha: A Legacy of Service which documents the legacy of one of the oldest African American women's organizations in the country, Persistence: The History of PBS Western Reserve (summer 2023), which traces the evolution of one of the nation's most unique PBS stations and Fulbright: The Man, the Mission, and the Message, the story of Senator J.W. Fulbright and his struggle with the War Powers Act during the Vietnam War. 

Over the years, Mr. Perkins has produced numerous aviation documentaries for various broadcast venues. These films have taken Drew to different parts of the world, where he has flown in historical aircraft and had the opportunity to meet and interview some of the world's most fascinating military heroes. 

Presently Mr. Perkins serves as Producer and Director of In the Course of Human Affairs, a docudrama that tells the intriguing story behind the writing of the United States Constitution. 

Drew earned a Master's in Film and Video from The American University, a Master's in Liberal Studies from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Drama from Washington and Lee University.
